The Hidden Place collection is a statement about childhood. Janja Prokić revives the three heroines of her heart-shaped children's books and, due to her own destiny, identifies with them. "I realized that the first three fairy tales, which I could memorize as a child, had main characters with a very similar fate to mine. And what they had to deal with and overcome in their stories, I live here and now, "says the author, who came to the Czech Republic with her parents from Belgrade in 1993, when she was nine years old. Together they left their homeland to escape the Yugoslav war.
