Book THE LEGEND OF SAINT WENCESLAS | MEANDER

MEANDER

Saint Wenceslas, the patron saint of the Czech country, is as of today mostly recorded in our minds only as a famous equestrian monument on Wenceslas Square in Prague. However, legends were told and written about the life and death of Prince Wenceslas, most of which were based on truth. Let us therefore talk about the life of St. Wenceslas, about the deeds he performed, and also about the miraculous palladium of the Czech lands that he carried with him.
Prince Wenceslas, assassinated by his own brother, was worshiped as a martyr soon after his death. A long line of monarchs honored him as the legendary duke of the Czech lands, who, with his statesmanship and strong Christian faith, preserved the Czech nation's right to exist.
