QUBUS

In 2002, Jakub Berdych opens a design shop called Qubus with the idea of creating a non-standard place, mainly presenting contemporary Czech and conceptual design of world names and brands. In the same year, together with Maxim Velčovský, they founded the Qubus Design Studio. The Qubus Showroom in Rámová Street in Prague's Old Town was the first design shop in the Czech Republic – founded by the designers themselves. Under the Qubus brand are created a number of now iconic design products, collections and works and the Qubus brand has become one of the most popular design studios in the Czech Republic and in the world in its 20 years of operation. The work of Qubus designers is characterized by its humor, making in traditional Czech materials - glass or porcelain, and their distinguishing mark is a humorous play with morphology and function. They respond to lifestyle, mirrors prejudices and reflect cultural and social topics and trends. Collections from Qubus include both luxury and everyday pieces, and in addition to conceptual and product design, Qubus also realizes projects in the field of interiors, architecture, patronizes the artwork of Jakub Berdych Karpelis and other artists and designers which invites to collaborate with.

In 2008, Qubus expanded to include DOX by Qubus – a gallery shop in the DOX Contemporary Art Center with a curated selection of the best of Czech-Slovak design.
